Irish Apple Cake
St. Patrick’s Day is just around the corner, and there’s no better way to celebrate than with a Cider! Cider has been a beloved drink in Ireland for centuries, with a rich history that dates back to the earliest days of the country’s agricultural heritage. Today, cider is still a popular drink in Ireland, and some of the world’s most famous cider brands got their start on Irish soil.
And to add a little something extra to your St. Patrick’s Day celebrations, why not try making a delicious Irish apple cake with Mr. Green? Here’s the recipe:
Irish Apple Cake Recipe
Ingredients:
- 2 cups flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup Mr. Green cider
- 2 apples, peeled and thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
Directions:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F.
- In a bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs, one at a time, until well combined.
- Add the flour mixture and Mr. Green cider to the butter mixture, alternating between the two, and mixing until just combined.
- Pour half of the batter into a greased 9-inch round cake pan.
- Arrange the apple slices on top of the batter, then sprinkle with the brown sugar and cinnamon.
- Pour the remaining batter on top of the apples and smooth out the surface.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
- Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a cold glass of Mr. Green cider.
